Dr. Kip Grasse Veterinarian

My father was a large animal veterinarian, and we operated a horse boarding facility. As a result, my whole life experience has revolved around the care of animals. I was very fortunate to be able to accompany my father on his farm calls, to live on a farm with horses to ride, and to know so many people whose lives depended on their animals. I don’t think there was anything I was better prepared and positioned to do than attend the Atlantic Veterinary College and graduate with my veterinary degree in 1995. Since then, I have travelled, worked and lived in many places in both Canada and the US. I have provided service to patients as small as a gerbil, and as large as a draft horse, be it in the field or in the office.

I joined 4 Paws Veterinary Hospital in 2018 and I like how the clinic is very well staffed with talented people and can provide patients with the latest in technology and care. It makes my work enjoyable and easy. I find the psychology of our furry friends to be the most interesting part of my job.

Behavioural medicine is challenging and complex because our pets and the lives they lead are so diverse. We all suffer from some form of mental health challenges, and so do our pets. What I love most about my job is that I see such a variety of cases and have been able to help so many wonderful people and their pets.

My first pet was Till, a female black Labrador. She lived 14 wonderful years with me. I miss her every day. A fun fact about myself? I love to throw parties, the bigger the better. And I love to play with my kids on the Slip n’ Slide.
